Make It Count: Storytelling for Professional Advancement

The performance review can be a nerve-wracking process. It’s true that massive career decisions hang on these evaluations, yet they do not have to be quite so anxiety inducing. Storytelling is the solution. Without stories, it is easy for managers to forget all of the accomplishments and growth their direct reports have achieved. Telling a story, however, can influence the details your manager remembers later, bringing your accomplishments to mind.

Don’t wait until the end-of-the-year scramble before you try to think about what happened over the course of the entire year. Start today so that you will have an abundance of career accomplishment stories by the end of 2019, ready to distill not only for your manager, but for clients, customers, and yourself.

Here’s how it works:

  • We send you one short assignment every month to prompt your reflections.

  • If you would like to share and receive feedback on your story, send it our way, and each month we will randomly choose participants who will get to workshop these stories with us.

  • By participating regularly, you fill your story library with a collection of stories you can use to advance your career.
